Lot Essay
ULLAGES AND CORKS OF OLD WINE
Each lot is described in the lot description as correctly as can be ascertained but buyers of old wines must make appropriate allowances for natural variations of ullages, conditions of cases, labels, corks and wine. No returns will be accepted.
ADDITIONAL CHARGES
Additional charges, including buyer's premium, sales or other tax, and shipping and loss damage and liability charges will apply. Please see below for details and restrictions.
ADDITIONAL CHARGES DETAILS
In addition to the hammer price (final bid price) of each lot, the winning bidder will be responsible for a buyer's premium for each lot of wine equal to 21 (twenty-one percent) of the hammer price. New York Sales tax or valued added tax, sales or compensating use tax of any applicable jurisdiction will be collected before the lot can be released. It is the buyer's responsibility to ascertain and pay all taxes due. For international buyers, the terms of sale are Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU) and duty and sales tax will be the sole responsibility of the buyer to be paid prior to shipment and/or delivery. The winning bidder will also be responsible for any and all shipping or delivery expenses, including costs of packing, handling and loss damage liability. NYWines/Christie's will arrange for its NY warehouse partner, The Wine Cellarage, to provide loss damage liability for purchased lots when arrangements are made for such lots to be shipped to the winner bidder. The Wine Cellarage will charge 1 of the purchase price, except that there will be no charge for Manhattan deliveries taken before November 12th, 2012, and such charge will cover only loss, theft, damage or breakage, and not any other changes to the wines during shipment. There is an additional charge (except for delivery in some areas of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Massachusetts) for shipping the original wooden cases.
CHRISTIE'S INTEREST IN PROPERTY CONSIGNED FOR AUCTION
Where Christie's has a direct financial interest in lots consigned for sale, which may include guaranteeing a minimum price or making an advance to the consignor that is secured solely by consigned property, the lot description for such lot will include language indicating such interest. The language will apply both in cases where Christie's holds the financial interest on its own, and in cases where Christie's has financed all or part of such interest through third parties.
NOTICE FOR COMPANY BIDDERS
If any individual is bidding on behalf of a company, the tick box must be checked and the company's name will need to be entered as part of the registration process. Christie's may require that the company provide certain documents or meet certain qualifications in order to bid.
If you registered as a company bidder, your company will need to pay for any purchases via a credit card issued to the company account and not a personal account.
Christie's is not able to honor any reseller's certificates through the online-only auction process for this sale and cannot grant any exemption upon check-out for applicable sales tax. Successful company bidders will be charged sales tax, if applicable, as part of the check-out process. Buyers claiming exemption and a refund must provide Christie's with the appropriate valid and up-to-date documentation and Christie's will facilitate the process of a refund.
