Lot Essay

The Maine ran between New York and New London, Connecticut for the Providence and Stonington Line and was sold in 1904 to the New England Steamship Company. On February 4, 1930 the ship ran aground in a blinding snow storm on Execution Rocks, Long Island, New York.
