Lot Essay

This teapot seems to be a comparatively rare model. An example was sold Christie's New York, 21 April 2009, lot 142, when it was described as a 'lychees' teapot. Also see the Harriman Judd Collection of British Pottery, Sotheby's, New York, 22 January 2001, lot 1, and English Majolica from a Private Collection, Sotheby's, New York, 11 March 1997, lot 353 for a part tête-à-tête including an example of this model.
