Lot Essay

Edmond Thomas Quinn, a Philadelphia native, trained as a painter with Thomas Eakins at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and Art Students League of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. While traveling in Paris, Quinn elected to specialize in sculpture and began his tutelage under Jean-Antoine Injalbert. His portrait busts and statues are in the collections of the Brooklyn Museum and Brooklyn Institute of Arts and Science, Brooklyn, New York, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
