The brass latched dial with engraved border, winged cherub spandrels, date aperture, ringed winding hole, now adapted with arch signed 'Fromantee (sic) London' and enamel chapter ring; the timepiece movement with pull quarter repeat on two bells, verge and crownwheel escapement, single train gut fusee, five latched and ringed pillars and engraved backplate signed 'Fromanteel'

Lot Essay

The style of signature to the backplate is comparable to that illustrated in P.G. Dawson, C.B. Drover & D.W. Parkes, Early English Clocks, London, 1982, plate 567, p. 398, to which is noted probably by Abraham Fromanteel (II, d. 1730).
