LATE 17TH CENTURY
Carved with a shield below a helmet and a lion crest within mantling
30 x 27 in. (76 x 69 cm.)
Provenance
Removed from Steventon Manor, Hampshire before the house was demolished in 1970. The house was owned on and off by the Brocas family for three hundred years before passing to William Knight a relative of Jane Austen. Although worn, the heraldic lion in the second quarter appears to be the emblem of the Brocas family
