DENIS MORTET
Domaine Denis Mortet started as 1 hectare in 1956 purchased by Charles Mortet. Since then the domaine has undergone numerous changes and amendments, leading up to an estate divided between brothers Denis and Thierry in 1991. Domaine Denis Mortet now covers 11.2 hectares within fourteen different appellations. Favoring a hands-on approach in the vineyard, the fruit is grown without any herbicides and mechanical equipment. After a severe triage, the domaine's grapes are entirely de-stemmed and vinified in open concrete cuves. The wood selection and percentage of new oak vary depending on the prestige of the wine. The best wines are treated to 100 percent new Vosges oak with lesser wines receiving 80 percent new oak of varying origins.
