A FRENCH GILT-ELECTROTYPE CENTREPIECE
ATTRIBUTED TO CHRISTOFLE & CIE, LATE 19TH CENTURY
Surmounted by serpent handles, the oviform bowl centred to the front and back by a ribboned cartouche and flanked by acanthus-cast pilasters, the gadrooned body supported by a fluted spreading socle flanked to each side by a serpent, on a laurel-cast base above an associated blue turquin base mounted with ormolu fruiting swags
The centrepiece: 15½ in. (39.5 cm.) high; 20¾ in. (53 cm.) wide; 12½ in. (32 cm.) deep;
The base: 4½ in. (11.5 cm.) high; 12¼ in. (31 cm.) wide; 9¼ in. (23.5 cm.) deep
