The rectangular writing box decorated on the stepped lid with pines and blossoming cherries by a river and the distant hills of Yoshino in gold and silver takamaki-e, kinji, kinpun, extensive kirikane and mura-nashiji clouds; the underside of the lid in gold and nashiji, silver and red lacquer and inlaid shell with partially opened folding fans, which are repeated in the lower box against a nashiji ground; fitted with a tray and inkstone and a silver water dropper cast in the form of a boat set in a silver and gilt saucer; rims silver
