The helmet a 62-plate russet iron suji-bachi (ridged bowl) type signed Myochin Nobuie saku and dated Eisho juichi-nen rokugatsu hi (made by Myochin Nobuie, a day in the sixth month, 1514), hachimanza (decorative surround to aperture at the apex) of six tiers of gilt metal with chrysanthemums, silver, and shakudo (black alloy of copper and gold), kuwagata-dai (stylized horns fixture) richly sculpted with gilt and chrysanthemums, russet iron mabi-sashi (peak) with shakudo fukurin (edging) having gold-inlaid engraved scrolling, gilt kuwagata (stylized horns), metal maedate (forecrest) of a ken (double-edged sword of esoteric Buddhism), an additional maedate (forecrest) of a shakudo roundel with the triple tomoe mon, lacquered wood waki-date (side crests) simulating stag antlers, the manju-jikoro (neck guard) of five tiers of hon-kozane (true scales) with dark blue kebiki-odoshi (close lacing), the fukigaeshi (turnbacks) leather clad with shakudo fukurin matching the mabi-sashi and applied mitsutomoe (triple comma shape) mon on shakudo roundels, russet iron reisei (angry expression) menpo (half mask) with detachable nose, bristle moustache, red lips, and gilt teeth, with five-tier yodare-kake (bib) matching the shikoro, two-tier nodowa of black lacquered ko-zane laced with dark blue and with red hishi-nui (decorative knotting), seven-tier sode (shoulder guards), the nimai-do (two-piece cuirass) of hon-kozane, the munaita (upper breast section) of three tiers, dyed leather-clad waki-ita (under-arm pieces), oshitsuke-ita (top rear plate) and watagami (shoulder suspension pieces) buttoned pouch of leather dyed with floral motifs on the left of the trunk, the nimaido and sode with a number of gilt kanamono each having the oak leaf and triple-comma mon, kusazuri (skirt) of seven tassets of five tiers, Iyo haidate (thigh guards), russet iron shino sune-ate (lower leg guards), the shikoro, nodowa, uname-nui do, sode, kusazuri, and haidate all in matching dark blue kebiki-odoshi, with red hishi-nui (decorative cross-knotting) at the lower extremities
