THREE AGATE SNUFF BOTTLES
1750-1880
The first, 1780-1880, is of flattened, rounded square form and carved from honey-toned stone attractively mottled with darker markings. The second, Official school, 1760-1850, is of flattened, ovoid form and carved from a pinkish-brown stone featuring an attractive irregular pattern of darker brown markings suggestive of a landscape. The narrow sides are carved with mask and ring handles. The third, 1750-1880, is a 'thumbprint' agate bottle of rounded, ovoid form and finely carved to feature the soft amber, dark brown, and yellow tones of the stone.
