A WHITE JADE SHAPED RECTANGULAR PENDANT PLAQUE
18TH/19TH CENTURY
One side is carved in low relief with a bat in flight above a stem of lingzhi, and the reverse with two characters, jixiang (auspiciousness). The semi-translucent stone is of even color and well polished.

Lot Essay

The stem of lingzhi (ruyi), together with the two characters jixiang, constitute the phrase jixiang ruyi, 'May everything be auspicious, and may all your wishes come true.'
