A bronze figure of Shiva and Parvati
South India, Kerala, circa 15th/16th century
Shiva seated in lalitasana, clad in an ankle-length dhoti and adorned with the sacred thread, the face with benevolent expression centered by the third eye and surmounted by a wide jatamukuta with intertwined snakes and the crescent moon at the side, holding a fruit, axe, and the deer, his fourth hand around Parvati's waist, who is seated on his thigh, her left hand raised in katakamudra and her upturned face topped with a conical headdress, both surrounded by a flaming aureole; with associated base
