A black stone stele of Ganesha
Northeastern India, Pala period, 11th century
Dancing on a double-lotus base and holding various implements in his eight outstretched hands, dressed in a short dhoti and adorned with the sacred thread, the face serene with steady gaze flanked by the flapping ears and surmounted by a tall chignon, flanked by two seated musicians with drums and cymbals with the rat and a donor figure below
