Bound in similar crimson morocco by Duru, 1852, later gilt supralibros, gilt lettering to spine, turn-ins and edges, green silk marker. Provenance: purchased from Giraud-Badin, 1932.

Second editions. With both parents having access to the Court of Louis XIV the Abbé was in a unique position to provide portraits of many of the well-known figures of the period, amongst them Fouquet and Colbert. His Histoire by contrast provides an entertaining account of his own life dressed in female garb. (2)
