Château Lafite Rothschild--Vintage 1990
Pauillac, 1er cru classé
Not in original wooden cases. Original tissues, slightly damaged. Levels base of neck or better
Tasting note: A dozen notes: surprisingly easy and soft in the spring of 1991. Then, in the mid-1990s, 'attractive and fragrant', later high on elegance, low on power. On its 10th birthday, maturing nicely, bouquet evolving well but more bottle-age essential. Consistently good notes since, four recently, which can be summed up as follows: very deep, virtually opaque core, rich, velvety, still youthful; bouquet slow to open but developing fragrant spiciness, touch of cedar and typical 'medicinal' whiff; medium sweet, perfect weight (12.5 good flavour, balance, length and excellent finish. A classic Lafite. Last tasted March 2000 ***(**) 2010 - 2030.
