A LARGE KESI HORIZONTAL PANEL
19TH CENTURY
The panel is comprised of eight vertical panels that have been woven as a continuous scene of a large assemblage of immortals, dignitaries, scholars and attendants, some bearing gifts, gathered to honor the elderly couple seated in the central pavilion. All is woven in shades of blue-grey, black, cream, russet and peach, with painted as well as gold thread details, within an outer border of gold lotus sprays.
