A PARCEL-GILT BRONZE FIGURE OF BUDDHA
LATE MING DYNASTY, 16TH-17TH CENTURY
The figure is shown seated in padmasana on a separate lotus base, and with hands in bhumisparsa mudra. A shawl worn over the shoulders frames a wan symbol in the center of the chest, and has lotus scroll borders, while the top of the dhoti tied above the waist is patterned. The face is cast with crisp features below hair dressed in curls that surround the usnisa.
