A GROUP OF THREE JADE SNUFF BOTTLES AND AN AGATE SNUFF BOTTLE
1750-1850
The first is of flattened, rounded rectangular shape and raised on a recessed oval foot ring. The stone is of even pale greyish-white tone on one side and has russet skin highlights on the reverse. The second is carved overall with an intricate basketweave pattern in the white and russet stone. The third is a 'macaroni' agate bottle of rounded, rectangular shape, carved with mask and ring handles on the shoulders. The fourth is crisply carved in low relief with a design of a 'brocade sash' wrapped around the sides and tied in a knot on one side. The stone is of even pale greyish-white tone with areas of russet color. Together with a jade and russet water pot carved as a small peach borne on a fruiting gnarled branch, with a bat in flight at the mouth rim.
