A STRAW AND AMBER-GLAZED POTTERY FIGURE OF A HORSE
TANG DYNASTY (618-907)
The horse is shown standing foursquare on a rectangular base with head tilted slightly to the left and ears pricked. The body is covered with a yellowish-green straw glaze and the trappings are in amber glaze that drains down onto the legs. The unglazed saddle cloth is painted orangy red and the blanket is painted to represent tiger skin.
