MARK OF WILLIAM CRIPPS, LONDON, 1746
Shaped oval with border of wheat and fruiting vines, scrolls and rocaille decoration, sides pierced with foliate scrolls, large scallops and crosslets incorporating a vacant reserve on either side, the four ball and claw feet terminating in shells and fruiting vines, centre engraved with the arms of Clerke impaling Newton and Cooper within a chased rococo surround, the floral-chased handle centred by a crested cartouche and terminating in grape clusters and leafy scrolls, base with scratch-weight 51=6
