Rectangular, the hinged cover enameled in translucent pale blue over a wavy guilloché ground, two corners applied with rocaille cagework centering clusters of rose-cut diamonds, the reeded spine applied with four diagonal laurel swags, with mother-of-pearl backing, the pencil holder containing a gold pencil with moonstone finial, the silk-lined interior fitted with notepad, marked throughout
