Lot Essay

Raoul Lachenal (1885-1956)

Raoul Lachenal was the son of a ceramicist so began his career at a young age succeeding his father in the family business at the age of just nineteen. Favouring the process of casting to modeling or turning techniques of production, Lachenal established a high temperature manufactory in the region of Boulogne-sur-Seine. The present small vase is of stylized floral form and is glazed in a rich aquamarine - characteristic of his preference for forms inspired by the natural world with a richness of palette.
