Lot Essay

A young photographer, Lara Zankoul's works recreate compositions of contemporary fairy tales. The intention of such works is to represent the charm and beauty of womanhood and the fragility of small creatures. Her compositions are set in whimsical and surreal surroundings that are created from imagination and represent an attempt to invent new worlds and escape from the monotony of everyday life. Anonymous by nature, each of the characters that inhabit Zankoul's work are transformed into timeless universal symbols within a fantastical landscape.
