THREE WATERED-STEEL SWORDS (SHAMSHIR)
THE BLADES IRAN, 18TH/19TH CENTURY, THE MOUNTS PROBABLY ARABIA AND 20TH CENTURY
Each of typical single-edged tapering and curving shape, one blade with very fine watering with "ladder of the prophet" motif, two with gold-damascened inscriptions in cusped medallions or in cartouches with ascription to Assadullah Isfahani, the hilts decorated with floral and lattice themes, the wooden and horn grips with brass nails, steel rosettes and inlaid steel star-shaped motifs, the nielloed steel hilt with calligraphic cartouches reading nasr min Allah wa fath qarib and owner's name reading Murad b. (?) Al Sa'd and dated 1946 AD, nielloed scrollwork decoration to the forte, now rubbed, with affixed brass leaf-like plaques and turquoise-inset pommel, with original leather sheaths
