Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin dated 20 October 2006, instruction manual, product literature, leather portfolio, fitted presentation box and outer packaging, rotating box and plugs.

To the best of our knowledge, the present watch has never been offered at auction before. It is furthermore delivered with all its accessories like the rotating box.

The reference 5102 is an astronomical wristwatch that borrows the principle of the celestial canopy from the most complicated wristwatch ever produced by Patek Philippe - reference 5002 Sky Moon Tourbillon. The nocturnal sky of the northern hemisphere rotates to show the apparent angular motion of the stars and moon as well as the progression of the phases of the moon. Hours and minutes are displayed by two pierced white hands. A delicate elliptical contour on the inside of the glass frames the portion of the sky that can be seen from all cities that share the latitude of Geneva.

This model was launched in 2002, first in white gold only, to be later replaced with yellow gold and finally with pink gold and platinum.
