Lot Essay

According to the Archives of Vacheron Constantin, the present watch was manufactured in 1940.

Vacheron Constantin's reference 4083 is amongst the rarest chronograph models ever made by the celebrated manufacture. Launched in the late 1930s, it was produced in an extremely small series only. In fact, according to literature, only six examples in yellow gold and twelve in pink gold were ever made, underlining the exclusivity of this landmark chronograph.

An example of a reference 4083 in pink gold is illustrated in Die Schönsten Armbanduhren vergangener Jahrzehnte by Giampiero Negretti/Franco Nencini, p. 276.
