A FINE & RARE POLISH OR LITHUANIAN TARTAR SABRE (ORDYNKA)
LATE 18TH EARLY 19TH CENTURY
With heavy curved single-edged blade, silvered hilt comprising cruciform guard with short quillons each terminating in a flattened button and engraved on each with stylised scrollwork against a blackened ground, cylindrical pommel engraved en suite, and rayskin-covered grip, in original scabbard covered with rayskin to the outer side and birchwood to the inner side, silver locket, chape and suspension mounts each engraved en suite with the hilt
