A COMPOSITE MORTUARY-HILTED BACK-SWORD
ENGLISH, BLADE DATED '1678'
With single-edged fullered blade etched on each side with foliage and Latin inscriptions, hilt with three bars linked by two arms, the two outer bars each pierced and scrolled at the base, the solid guard turned at the back-edge and incised with scollwork, foliage and two masks to the outer side, globular pommel incised with further scrollwork, and remains of two Turk's heads (grip and binding missing, some discolouration and light pitting throughout)
