The cylindrical ring is incised to the exterior with ten lines of calligraphy. The stone is of a dark yellowish-brown tone.

The poem inscribed on the current ring is published in Qing Gaozong Yuzhi Shiwen Quanji, 'An Anthology of Imperial Poetry and Prose Composed by Gaozong of the Qing Period', erji, juan 43, no. 7, under the title, 'Yong Yushe', 'In Praise of a Jade Archer's Ring'.
