A PALE CELADON JADE ARCHAISTIC VASE AND COVER
18TH/19TH CENTURY
The exterior of the flattened square vase is carved with a band of archaistic monster-masks above stylised pendant leaves. The handles to the sides are finely modelled as the heads of mythical beasts. The cover is carved with a further band of stylised pendant leaves. The stone is of a very pale celadon tone with some minor russet and snowy streaks.
