A WHITE JADE RECTANGULAR PENDANT 'BOY' PLAQUE
18TH/19TH CENTURY
The plaque is carved in shallow relief with confronted chilong amongst scrolling cloud, and is decorated to one side with a boy lighting three firecrackers. The reverse is decorated with four seal-script characters reading 'ping sheng san ji', which is an auspicious saying for officials meaning 'may you rise swiftly up the ranks'. The stone is of an even pale tone.
