A MASSIVE FAMILLE ROSE BALUSTER VASE
19TH CENTURY
The impressively large vase is powerfully potted with a bulbous body and a tall waisted neck rising to a flaring mouth that gently curves inwards at the rim. The sides are applied with a pair of handles with stylised archaistic designs. The exterior is elaborately enamelled with leafy branches bearing chrysanthemum flowers, all reserved against a pale blue geometric ground enclosing quatrefoil flowerheads.
38 1/8 in. (96.8 cm.) high
