A PAIR OF ZITAN HORSESHOE-BACK ARMCHAIRS, QUANYI
QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
Each chair has a sweeping crest rail ending in outward flaring hooks above spandrels, with a back splat decorated with a mythical beast amidst flames enclosed within a ruyi-shaped panel. A rattan seat is set within a rectangular frame and legs joined by stepped stretchers and a foot rest.
