Lot Essay

The orphans of the Burgerweeshuis, located between the Kalverstraat and the Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal since 1580, had their own gallery in the Nieuwe Kerk, located to the right of the transept organ. This small 16th Century organ escaped the destroying fire in January 1645, as at the time it was being restored in the workshop of organ-builder Germer van Hagerbeer.
