A 'CHICKEN-BONE' JADE 'LANDSCAPE' PLAQUE
17TH/18TH CENTURY
The shaped rectangular plaque is carved in relief with a central cartouche enclosing a mountainous landcape with rocks and pine trees. The reverse is carved with a four-character inscription in seal script.
3¼ in. (8.2 cm.) long
Provenance
From the collection of Llewellyn Jones (d.1947) and then by descent.
Acquired when he was travelling in East Asia during the early part of the 20th Century.
Part of the collection was gifted to the Victoria and Albert Museum c.1949.
