Meiji period (late 19th century)
Decorated in gold and silver hiramaki-e, takamaki-e, togidashi-e, kirigane, gold and silver inlay on a nashiji ground with saya pattern and roundels containing chrysanthemums, peonies and cherry blossoms, the hinged door opening to reveal three drawers each with different flowers, the reverse of the door with autumn flowers and grasses, the foot with a band of stylised chrysanthemums and foliage, dense nashiji interior
