A MEISSEN (MARCOLINI) JAGD TEA AND COFFEE-SERVICE
CIRCA 1775, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS AND STAR MARKS, BLUE I MARK TO SOME PIECES, VARIOUS PRESSNUMMERN, GILDER'S MARKS S., W OR L TO MOST PIECES
Painted with hunting scenes including huntsmen on horseback, hounds and game in landscapes, within tooled gilt oval cartouches surmounted by tied trailing ribbons and entwined with bronzed flowers and ivy, and with scattered sprigs, the rims with gilt egg and dart borders, comprising:
A bullet-shaped teapot and cover with a branch-moulded handle and spout enriched in gilding (chip to underside of rim of cover)
A baluster-shaped coffee-pot and cover with a branch-moulded handle and foliate spout enriched in puce and gilding (two small chips to spout)
A baluster hot-milk jug and cover
An arched rectangular teacaddy and cover (chip to neck of teacaddy)
A circular sugar-bowl and cover
A slop-basin
An ogival spoon-tray
Six teacups with scroll handles (one with small restored rim chip)
Six coffee-cups, the foliate scroll handles with flower terminals
Twelve saucers (one with rim chip and hairline crack)
(slight wear to gilding throughout)
