Circular with a gadrooned rim, engraved with a coat-of-arms, each marked underneath
9 5/8 in. (24.4 cm.) diam.
320 oz. 18 dwt. (9,980 gr.)
The arms are those of Morgan quartering Gould with Stoney in pretence, for Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Charles Gould Morgan, 2nd Bt. (1760-1846) and his wife Mary Margaret Stoney (d.1808), daughter of Captain George Stoney, whom he married in 1791. He was a Welsh soldier and politician, the MP for Brecon (1787-1796) and later the County of Monmouth (1796-1831). He was the son of Sir Charles Morgan, 1st Bt. and married Mary Margaret Stoney in 1791, with whom he had eight children. He never remarried after her death in 1808. (18)
