Messrs. Morgan and Sanders of Trafalgar House, Catherine Street, popularised this design through their illustration of a related stool in R. Ackermann's The Repository of Arts, London, 1809 (see P. Agius, Ackermann's Regency Furniture and Interiors, Marlborough, 1984, p.39).
