A WILLIAM AND MARY BRASS-MOUNTED BEADWORK AND NEEDLEPOINT CABINET-ON-STAND
LATE 17TH EARLY 18TH CENTURY, THE STAND ASSOCIATED
Decorated overall with embroidered flowers, foliage and animals on a black beadwork ground, the doors with engraved shaped lockplate and hinges enclosing a fitted interior with twenty-four pigeon holes, on a giltwood stand carved with putti, acanthus scrolls and foliate swags, on cabriole legs headed by putti herms and terminating in scrolled feet, the stand originally silvered, the present water gilding with repairs in oil gilding, now with additional moulding to stand
