Vases such as these were first made in faience in 1773 by the Swedish Marieberg factory, predominantly in orange and blue colours. A faience and Chinese export example now at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, is illustrated in C. Le Corbeiller, China Trade Porcelain, pattern of exchange New York, 1973, pp. 162-3.
