Cartouche-form, the sides and cover finely chased with borders of hares, dogs, and game-birds, the cover set with a gold and enamel portrait of Augustus the Strong against white enamel and surrounded by a frame of diamonds set in silver, all within an oval panel of putti and birds amidst strapwork and a lambrequin, in original green shagreen case with velvet lining, apparently unmarked
