A LARGE BAMBOO CARVING OF A MOUNTAIN
QING DYNASTY, 19TH CENTURY
Well carved around the sides to depict a gathering of scholars in a mountain landscape scene. The foreground is detailed with riders on horseback travelling on an incline along a mountain pass that winds into the distance with further scholars, some of whom are engaged in animated discussion whilst others are resting in pavilions.
