Late 17th-century French calf BOUND FOR LOUIS XIV, sides centred with the royal arms [Olivier 2494, fer 7] within a field of large fleur-de-lis and a partly superimposed roll-tool and filleted border, spine in seven panels with single fleur-de-lys at centre of six, the remaining panel directly lettered, gilt edges (extremities lightly rubbed, some abrasions and areas of loss, expertly recased).
