12o (147 x 84 mm). Engraved title and 9 engraved plates, mostly by Eustache Foucault after Jaspar Isaac. 19th-century blue straight-grained morocco gilt, edges gilt (hinges lightly rubbed). Provenance: acquired from Goodspeed's Book Shop, 1950.
FIRST EDITION with finely detailed plates. Jaspar Isaac (1585-1654) established himself as an engraved in Paris by 1609; his business was continued by his son Claude. RARE: according to American Book Prices Current, no copy of this work has appeared on the market in the last 35 years. Brunet III: 920.
