With broad double-edged blade of flattened hexagonal section cur on each side at the forte with a shallow central fuller, one side of the blade with faint traces of a latten-inlaid running wolf mark, the other side struck with a maker's stamp beneath the guard, later iron Saxon-style guard comprising arched spatulate quillons each with ball finial, swelled side-ring, downcurved arms, and inner-guard of slender bars incorporating the thumb-ring, later leather-covered wooden grip with central moulding, and 16th century spirally-fluted pommel
