the drum-shaped case surmounted by an eagle with displayed wings and flanked by winged sphinxes, above drapery apron with central anthemion motif, the uprights mounted with caryatids and with urn finials to the sides, on breakfront base with recessed panel depicting cavorting amorini and bacchante masks, on milled toupie feet, the white enamel Roman dial with ARbic quarters and pierced gilt hands, signed Roquet à Paris, the later twin barrel movement with countwheel strike on bell -- 24¼in.(62cm.) high
