Of octagonal form, the hinged cover decorated in gilt and red lacquer on black ground with two pairs of dragons chasing the flaming pearl, enclosed by cartouches depicting scholars and pavilions, the sides and interior tray covers similarly decorated, the underside of cover monogrammed 'EHO', containing a quantity of ivory sewing accessories and mother-of-pearl game counters
