AN OUTSTANDING PRIVATE COLLECTION OF FINE CLARET AND RED BURGUNDY FROM LEADING GROWERS
The following lots 141 to 270 represent an excellent selection of fine Bordeaux and red Burgundy from recent vintages
The collection features a broad range of claret with a particular focus on the highly rated 2000 vintage. Highlights include L'Eglise Clinet and Léoville-Barton. The red Burgundy section of this collection predominantly features two magnificient vintages that are approaching maturity, 1999 and 2002. Buyers have the rare opportunity to add some outstanding wines to their collections including Chambertin and Chambertin-Clos de Bèze from Rousseau and Clos de Tart
The majority of the stock has been purchased through a reputable wine merchant and has been lying at Octavian since then
Lying in Corsham, Wiltshire (Octavian)
Lots marked ++ are offered in bond, available duty-paid
Château Pichon-Longueville, Lalande--Vintage 1982
Pauillac, 2me cru classé
In original wooden case. Bin-soiled labels. Levels base of neck or better
Tasting note: One of the monumental wines of the last century is the 1982 Pichon Lalande. Since bottling, it has flirted with perfection, and was a sprinter out of the gate, which gave rise to questions about how quickly it would begin its decline. However, at age 27, it retains all its glossy, rich, flamboyant cassis fruit, chocolaty, berry jam-like notes, and plenty of earthy, foresty flavors. This is a full-bodied, extravagantly rich Pichon Lalande seemingly devoid of acidity and tannin, but the wine is incredibly well-balanced and pure. It is an amazing effort!
